Job purpose
Directs financial activities for Rootstown Plant. Plans, collects and analyzes data to determine cost of business activities. Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production cost. Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Finance to oversee the financial processes and preparation of month-end close statements, including the analysis of cost variance reconciliations, inventory reconciliations, general ledger entries, standard cost reconciliations, changes in Fixed Assets and forecast adjustments to budget.
- Assist the Director of Finance to oversee budget and trend forecast and assist the site to prepare and provide explanation of significant variances.
- Complete in-depth analysis for the location to uncover opportunities for improvement with a specific focus on maintaining and/or increasing profitability and alignment with the unit’s growth plan.
- Assist the plant in the preparation of an annual business plan. Ensure compliance to business unit objectives and targets from Corporate.
- Responsible for all month end, quarter end and year end close activities
- Responsible for monthly account reconciliations
- Support Continuous Improvement (CI) or Cost Driver initiatives.
- Proactively interact with supervisors, plant management as well as senior management to ensure all parties have a clear and accurate understanding of the plants overall financial performance.
- Evaluate plant accounting and internal control systems (review of corporate policies, purchasing authorities, etc. to ensure alignment with SOX).
- Operational reporting and variance analysis (explanation of scrap, labor and overhead cost)
- Responsible for Fixed Assets, depreciation schedules, additions and disposal requests
- Authorize and approve all purchase orders for the plant.
- Assist or test ERP improvements directed by Corporate.
- Coordinate and support Internal and External auditors.
- All other duties as deemed necessary by Management.
Qualifications
- College degree or 3- 5 yrs. prior experience in Accounting
- Previous manufacturing experience
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Good judgment, problem identification and problem solving abilities
- Strong communication skills, written and oral
- Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws, polices, and rules. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by company. Must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Must be available and willing to work such overtime as is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
