Job purpose
The Program Manager manages new products from conceptual design through PPAP of the product and its launch into production.
Duties and responsibilities
- Perform Program Management responsibilities per the current quality standard requirement and per General Aluminum procedures and guidelines
- Schedule and manage APQP meetings with the cross functional team to complete all tasks and confirm a launch that occurs on schedule, at or under budget, and achieves the quoted scrap and productivity rates.
- Maintain program timelines and launch action plans per General Aluminum procedures and guidelines
- Maintain communications with the customer on all launch issues
- Complete engineering assumptions for all new product RFQ's and any requested product / process changes
- Identification, coordination and satisfaction of customer requirements that include special characteristics, setting objectives specific to the product, training necessary to implement customer requirements, corrective/preventive actions in customer prescribed format, product/process design and development
- Represent the needs of the customer
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2-4 year Engineering or Technical Degree (Required)/ BS in Engineering field (Preferred)
- 1-3 years of Program Management experience with automotive supplier is preferred or 3-5 years engineering experience in automotive industry with project involvement.
- Must have strong hands-on mechanical ability.
- Demonstrated dependability, responsibility and flexibility
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Working conditions and environment
Office setting with exposure to foundry / manufacturing / machining environment with exposure to high noise, heat, hazards of moving equipment and molten metal. Use of protective equipment to protect eyes, feet, ears and potential burn areas
Normal equipment used
Routine use of plant manufacturing equipment and office equipment
