Controls Engineer

    Job description

    The Controls Engineer will administer electric, robotics and controls systems in the plant. This will include troubleshooting, program design, process improvement, documentation organization and maintenance, service maintenance and training. Responsible for understanding, writing and maintaining IATF16949 requirements as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Starting at $75,000 and up, depending on skills and qualifications.

    • Troubleshoot electric/electronic machine problems that maintenance is unable to resolve with all plant machinery. (i.e. cast machines, Telesis, reverbs & Jet Melter’s, heat treat and zyglo)
    • Redesign/improve/modify PLC programs and circuits
    • Set robots electronic (service) PM procedures
    • Design/develop PLC/SLC/Control Logix program – which includes existing and new lines as well as proposal for new work.
    • Responsible for updating/maintaining controls documentation, hard copies, two laptops and approximately 75 PLC/SLC/Control Logix
    • Maintain Data acquisition system and modify as required
    • Design/improve/modify robotic program – which includes existing and new as well as proposal for new work
    • Responsible for updating/maintaining plant communication network
    • Responsible for repairing/getting equipment repaired (work with Maintenance Manager in this area)
    • Redesign/improve/modify user graphic interfaces (i.e. heat treat graphics, panel views, cast machine graphics)
    • Trouble shooting software/hardware used on the plant floor
    • Install or upgrade software used on the plant floor
    • Assist employees with performing their preventative maintenance (as needed)
    • Assist the end user with computer support
    • Work with company IT group to perform backups of the network drives
    • Backup plant PLC/SLC programs, MMI, drawings and robot backup files
    • Responsible for updating/maintaining controls drawings
    • Maintain and update plants layout drawing for machine installation and layout as required
    • Work with plant maintenance on machine power, network, air and gas drops in the plant in association with current and future projects
    • Work with the management team for solutions on current and future projects
    • Other duties as assigned by Manager
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field with 2-5 years’ experience.
    • Knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
    • Knowledge of NEC Code, Arc Flash and Lock out Tag out procedures
    • Knowledge of FANUC Controls, Blueprint Reading, basic measuring technique, and proficient in CAD.
    • Foundry/machining experience is preferred.
    • Proficient/Working knowledge in basic and Specialized computer software.
    • Strong organizational skill, confidentiality and dependability
    • Must be able to effectively communicate and write in English

    Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
