    Job purpose

    Responsible for maintaining the proper manufacturing process and procedures for high quality and low cost products made in an efficient manner. Direct and supervise production employees to run equipment and perform duties consistent with established work instructions. Ascertains that product meets all customer requirements and that all key process controls are maintained within operating limits. Ensures that employees understand their roles, responsibilities and accountabilities to the system. Ensures that appropriate personnel are trained. Aware of consequences to the customer, environment and the employee if procedures are not followed.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Assists Product Manager in APQP activities, documentation, measurement systems, molding capability studies etc. Participates in the designing layout of equipment and work space for maximum efficiency.
    • Assists with device preparation, thermocouple locations in mold, mold cooling system design, pour cup design, mold preparation procedures and burner stick fabrication. Develop and document molding process, including cycle times and molding techniques. Prepares detailed process specifications and OCP’s to ensure all manufacturing processes are run to process specifications.
    • Monitor / review process specification sheet from production floor. Responsible for hot inspection audits and layered process audits, corrective action response (root cause identification) and maintaining part / process action logs.
    • Maintains tooling logs and files.
    • Reviews material review board (MRB) and aids in the disposition of product and/or materials. Assists with customer returns.
    • Addresses areas of concern, in first-time through and efficiency related items. Assures process consistency by utilizing work instructions, product control plans and operating procedures per ISO/TS 16949 quality and EMS requirements.
    • Confers with management, engineering, tooling and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and considerations to facilitate production process to ensure production needs are met.
    • Supports the training of new operators and suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve their goals. Leads team in continuous improvement projects that will aid in scrap reduction, cost reduction and improvements in efficiency at the molding and finishing processes. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
    • Coordinates production schedule and provides direction to workers for completion of job assignment to assure timelines are attained. Responsible for recording and evaluating OEE daily.
    • Responsible for ensuring that associates have the right tool to perform their job. Supervises and communicates with employees regarding job performance/expectations, attendance, breaks, discipline, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Approves and verifies accuracy of employee work hours and furnishes complete/correct production records.
    • Communicates all key events and information to Superintendent and/or Operations Manager to assure continuity in safety, quality and productivity.
    • All other duties as deemed necessary by the General Manager/ Operations Manager.

     

    Qualifications

    • Required – 2 yr. college degree or university program certificate or 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Required - Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws, polices, and rules. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by company. Must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Must be available and willing to work such overtime as is necessary or desirable to meet business needs. Must be able to stand, bend and stoop. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Working conditions and environment

    Noise may exceed 85db must wear hearing protection. Exposure to extreme heat.                           

    Normal equipment used

    Hand tools, gauges/fixtures, measuring devices and computer. Safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and steel toed shoes are required.
