    Job purpose.     

    Manages and implements predictive, preventive and reactive maintenance process for the facility to ensure reliability of equipment and systems in support of meeting safety, profitability, cost and production goals. Direct and supervise maintenance employees. Maintains employee discipline, good housekeeping and all safety, environmental and quality standards. Understands the environmental aspects, impacts, objectives and targets of General Aluminum and how these factors affect day-to-day operations. Ensures that employees understand their roles, responsibilities and accountabilities to the system. Ensures that appropriate personnel are trained.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Collaborates with EHS Manager to ensure regular departmental safety audits are performed and equipment/facility is maintained in safe working order.
    • Direct and supervise employees to perform duties consistent with established safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensures that breakdown or disruptions in the production processes are minimized. Manages equipment and critical parts inventory.
    • Able to organize, prioritize, and schedule work orders. Provides direction to workers for completion of job assignment and follow-up to assure timelines are attained.
    • Oversee projects, audits and inspections. Is accountable for maintenance employee performance and project time lines. Understands how maintenance activities impact the system.
    • Manages and implements predictive, preventive and reactive maintenance process for the facility to ensure reliability of equipment and systems. Reviews PM schedule for accuracy and completeness. Provides direction and feedback.


    • Manages department spending and performance. Initiates programs and procedures to reduce spending and enhance performance. Works with managers effectively to ensure policies and goals of the organization are met or exceeded.


    • Communicates and ensures that associates follow the plant rules, work instructions, safety rules, housekeeping standards, quality standards and environmental policies.
    • Determines skill gaps within the department and defines training to bridge the gaps. Responsible for ensuring that associates have the right tool and/or gages to perform their job.
    • Supervises and communicates with employees regarding job performance/expectations, attendance, breaks, discipline addressing complaints and resolving problems.


    • Approves and verifies accuracy of employee work hours and manages complete/correct maintenance records.
    • Aware of consequences to the customer, environment and the employee if procedures are not followed. Promotes good housekeeping.
    • Communicates all key events and information to General Manager to assure continuity in safety, quality and productivity.
    • All other duties as deemed necessary by the General Manager.



    • Required – 2 yr. college degree or university program certificate or 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Required - Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws, polices, and rules. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by company. Must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Must be available and willing to work such overtime as is necessary or desirable to meet business needs. Must be able to stand, bend and stoop. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Noise may exceed 85db must wear hearing protection. Exposure to extreme heat.                           

    Normal equipment used

    Hand tools, hydraulics, electronics and other equipment. Safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and steel toed shoes are required.
