Position Details

HR Generalist

  • Rootstown, Ohio
  • Job purpose

    Perform HR functions including recruiting, staffing, training, employee relations; maintain required records/documentation. Responsible for competence, awareness and training of associates performing work that affects product quality required by the TS 16949 standard and/or QS 14001 Environmental Management System requirements.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Recruit, interview and select employees to fill vacant positions.


    • Process new hires; to include pre-employment drug screens, background checks, orientation; establish files and enter employment information in payroll system.


    • Provide supervisors with competency evaluations and/or performance reviews.


    • Maintain, log and file training documents.


    • Work with management for appropriate resolution of employee relation issues.


    • Respond to questions, inquiries and complaints from employees.


    • Monitor employee attendance, warnings, vacation tracking, LOA, and FMLA programs.


    • Prepare key metrics and HR reports and meet with manufacturing staff about manning requirements.


    • Perform benefit administration; maintain reports, records for submission to PKOH


    • Organize and participate in plant wide events, including the reward and recognition program.


    • Aware of consequences to employee, customer and environment if procedures are not followed.


    • All other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.






    2 - 4 year degree in HR, Business, Organizational/Industrial Development or related area(s) required. 

    Minimum of 1-2 years HR experience in a manufacturing environment.

    PHR, SPHR Certification preferred.

    Knowledge and understanding of HRIS, Employment Law, FMLA, and Benefits.


    Maintain strict confidentiality.
