Position Details

Senior Development Engineer

  • Ravenna, Ohio
  • Job purpose

    The Senior Development Engineer is responsible for a broad range of duties, including new model development, customer interface and project management.  Performs design work by actively participating on multifunctional teams to advanced assigned projects through the design/development process through launch to market.


    Duties and responsibilities

    • Builds models and conducts linear and non-linear product and process solidification and flow analysis

    • Perform structural FEA as needed

    • Correlate analysis results with unit feedback for verification and validation

    • Review analysis results with units and incorporate suggested modifications

    • Conduct process simulations for other thermal processes as required for development or problem solving

    • Keep CAD model database up to date as new models arrive from customers

    • Create ad update 2D part drawings for customers and plants as needed

    • Manage the laser scanning operation as needed

    • Load the system with updated software and track changes and improvements

    • Support internal and external research and development as required                                                     

    • Other duties as assigned                                                                                                                                              




    • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering Required, Master’s Degree preferred

    • Minimum of eight years in application of hardware and software in product and process design and casting process development

    • Experience in automotive applications with aluminum casting knowledge in high pressure, low pressure or gravity perm mold

    • Experience in improving current aluminum designed components and/or redesigning iron components for aluminum preferred

    • Competent in using CAD software and flow/thermal analysis software

    • Experienced in FEA, design and flow/thermal analysis of aluminum castings

    Climate controlled office environment with exposure to a manufacturing/foundry setting.
