Position Details

Purchasing Agent

  • Rootstown, Ohio
  • Job purpose
    Process requisitions, request quotes and generate purchase orders via the ERP system. Verify that all policies and procedures are followed. Manage the tool/supply room area and supervise tool crib attendant. Follow PPE and safety requirements. Aware of company quality and environmental policy and consequences when procedures are not followed.

    Duties and responsibilities
    • Process requisitions; verify all required signatures, request quotes from vendors, enter information into ROSS system.
    • Negotiate prices and terms with vendors as appropriate.
    • Build and maintain positive working vendor and supplier relationships.
    • Generate purchase orders, fax or call orders and follow-up on delivery of items.
    • Maintain inventory of stock items, safety supplies and perishable tooling.
    • Verify that items received conform to specifications requested.
    • Prepares periodic, special or perpetual inventory of stock. Maintains inventory and other stock records.
    • Work with Category Managers and/or Director of Purchasing to control spend company-wide.
    • Track capital expenses for new jobs.
    • Verify that all new products received have the required (MSDS) material safety data sheets.
    • Assure proper labeling of drums, totes and dispensing spray bottles per EMS and hazard communication standards.
    • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
    • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
    • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
    • Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
    • All other duties as deemed necessary.


    Qualifications
    • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
    • Required – High School diploma or GED or prior experience/training in manufacturing environment.
    • Two or four-year Business Admin, Purchasing, Finance or related degree a plus
    • Required - Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws, polices, and rules. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by company. Must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Must be available and willing to work such overtime as is necessary or desirable to meet business needs. Must be able to stand, bend and stoop. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift up to 5 pounds.

     

    Working conditions and environment
    Noise may exceed 85db must wear hearing protection. Exposure to extreme heat.
    Normal equipment used
    Computer, telephone, copier and fax machine. While in plant; safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toed shoes.
